The top star at the ’2012 Mnet Asian Music Awards’ (aka, MAMA), the first among the end-of-year Gayo Awards, was Psy, who has become an international star.
The ’2012 Mnet Asian Music Awards’ took place at Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre at 7pm on November 30th. Psy was awarded the ‘Song of the Year’ award, one of the Daesangs at the MAMA, with ‘Gangnam Style’.
Psy released part 1 of his full 6th album in July this year and swept the world with the title song ‘Gangnam Style’. At the MAMA, Psy was also awarded the ‘Best Music Video’ award, the ‘Best Dance Performance – Solo’ award, and the ‘International Favorite Artist’ award, being crowned a total of 4 times this year.
Psy shared after winning the ‘Song of the Year’ award, “My life as a singer was not easy but I think this year was so impossibly great. I think I received (much love) also because the hoobae singers have been spreading K-Pop well, so I will share this honor with all the singers in Korea” to much applause.
