IU revealed her family history.
IU was at the recent pre-recording of KBS 2TV’s talk show ‘Seung Seung Jang Goo’ and revealed her family history relaying her special love for her grandmother.
IU opened up saying, “My family’s situation was difficult so there was no other way but to live away from my parents.”
IU shared about the difficulties of those times saying, “I lived for about a year and a half with my grandmother, a cousin, and my younger brother but at home it was always cold and we were short of food too.”
IU continued, “Grandmother barely made enough money selling hair accessories at the market. Almost never could I see my parents or reach my parents. Whenever I felt lonely alone I held on thinking, ‘It’s ok because there’s my grandmother.’”
IU also shared, “I liked it better at the rehearsal studio than at home. Unlike at home where I was lonely and cold, the rehearsal studio felt warmer. More than anything, I liked that there were enough things to eat and there was a warm bed I can sleep in”, really touching the heart of everyone.
The confident and bright, 19-year old IU’s hidden stories will be revealed on ‘Seung Seung Jang Goo’ on December 13th at 11:15pm.

What does IU have to gain from lying about this? Maybe Diana Ross said it to help her gain fame through a touching story, but IU is already a mega star. What you say doesn’t make any sense. Plus, IU is not Diana Ross.

I didn’t know much about IU’s personal life and I never knew she had such a difficult past. I just love her songs and that was it for me. I’m so glad she’s found success and I’m sure her grandma is well taken care of by her.
