They are the first bi-racial group to come out of South Korea. The 5 girls call themselves, ‘Chocolat‘.
Industry insiders have stated the group’s agency ‘Paramount Music‘ plan to debut the girls on the 17th.
Of course the reason why ‘Chocolat’ is garnering so much attention is because of the exotic make up of the group.
The members consist of 2 Korean girls and 3 half-Caucasian half Korean girls. All 3 bi-racial girls’ fathers are Caucasian and the mothers are Koreans. It is the first time that a group’s majority is other than South Korean members.
Fans have seen many Chinese and Thai members in South Korean music industry, but this is the first time the bi-racial members took the center stage.
However, they don’t plan to win the fans over with merely their looks. These girls who average 18.6 years in age, have been practicing their craft for the past 2 and a half years. Music insiders note the girls are very talented indeed.
It will be interesting to see how the girls of ‘Chocolat’ fair in the fierce market that is the ‘Girl group battle’.
